If you’re a “weekend warrior” …

August 14, 2023
Chris

recent studies suggest there is GOOD NEWS for you.

The definition of such a warrior?

Someone who fits an entire week’s recommended exercise (at least 150 minutes of moderate intensity, or 75 minutes of vigorous intensity activity) into a couple of days, rather than spread out over seven days.

The conclusions of this study of 90,000 people suggest that efforts to improve physical activity, even if concentrated within one to two days of the week, should be beneficial for cardiovascular risk.

Before, it’s been unclear whether the same benefits come from concentrated exercise or more regular, spread-out physical activity.

BOTH concentrated and spread-out exercise were associated with lower risks of cardiovascular disease, heart failure, atrial fibrillation (abnormal heart rhythm) and strokes.

So THAT’S THE GOOD news.

The NOT-SO-GREAT news?

If you condense your exercise into only ~2-3 days, you don’t get to enjoy all the other, more IMMEDIATE benefits that accompany being active … like feeling:

awesome

mentally and physically energetic

confident and in a great mood

less anxious and stressed out

more relaxed

high on your own natural opiates

more confident, strong and fit

more positive and enthusiastic about life

more relaxed …

and more …
