are interpreted by our bodies and brains as signals of DEADLY PERIL.
Today’s lifestyle signals to your body and brain … which operate on the belief that we’re still living in nature … that you’re heading into famine.
In nature, there is no reason to be sedentary except during times where there is lack of food.
Remember we grew up in Africa, so no matter how plentiful the game, it rotted in hours.
There were no fridges and no convenience stores. You needed to get up and hunt for hours each and every single day.
The only reason not to go out and hunt was famine.
Regardless of how much food you eat … if you don’t exercise … this is what you’re telling your body.
Today, your body responds in the same way to less calories and no exercise … both migrate into a low-grade form of depression, which is a critical survival strategy.
This depression and slow, persistent physical decay is your body’s preferred state of health in an environment that it interprets as having changed for the worse, and in which you’re in a long haul survival challenge.
So … that’s the bad news.
(2) THE GOOD NEWS
Your body watches what you do like a hawk.
Therefore, even a modest signal to grow …
a decent workout, a good stiff walk, getting the heart rate up on the treadmill for 10 minutes …
will drown out our natural, Darwinian disposition towards gradual physical deterioration.
Think of it like a daily balance between “reminders to grow” and our natural “disposition to deteriorate” without our bodies …
With daily, or regular, exercise that involves reminding our bones, muscles, systems .. our internal highways and “irrigation channels” that nourish our internal organs …
That they need to stay strong, flexible and resilient …
We can override, and drown out, these deadly body and mind responses of our modern, sedentary lifestyle.
