… and it could make or break your health.
It’s the hour AFTER you’re finished work.
When mental and physical exhaustion convinces you …
that you don’t need any cardio today …
that a convenient bag of chips and a couch is your destiny.
DAY-END LETHARGY is a natural thing for us.
Energy dips to the lowest point in the afternoon, and this psyche tends to follow you home, and willpower is lagging …
this is a MOOD that is very hard to triumph over.
3 STRATEGIES to counter this downward spiral:
–> (1) HAVE DINNER AS SOON AS YOU GET HOME – remember to eat according to your circadian rhythm, which keeps your hunger on a schedule and your hormones working for you. If you absolutely MUST snack while it’s being prepared, eat something that’s small and high in protein and fibre.
–> (2) DO NOT SIT DOWN – sitting down right away when you get home can be the end to a healthy evening. If you DO, don’t collapse, at least adopt a healthy sitting position, with your lower back supported, allowing you to breathe more easily and rest better.
–> (3) HIT YOUR REBOOT BUTTON – create a BUFFER between your day and your home. Take the dog for a walk, get outside and do something, or even shower and change your clothes … WHATEVER works …
“habit stack” and do some of the above on a yoga mat in front of the TV, if that’s the post-work norm.
